Purpose of Assignment: Developing, organizing, and communicating evidence-based information and positions on policy topics and issues clearly and
succinctly comprise critical skills in supporting policy based decision making. These skills form the foundation for many roles within social work and serve
to position social workers as highly effective advocates and social change agents. This assignment is intended to facilitate the development of these skills.
What am I expected to do in this assignment? You will prepare an Advocacy Policy Brief, which presents arguments that support or advocate for a specific
policy or policy direction/response to a social issue. Your brief should provide focused policy options (at least three) to address all or part of the social issue,
whichever is most feasible for your topic/issue. The policy options you choose to discuss must be reflective of the current COVID-19 reality and be supported
by research. For example, if you are advocating for a funding increase for social assistance, you must include empirical evidence that supports the efficacy of
your recommendation (that your recommendation will actually be effective based on best practice/policy evidence). Students should ensure they consult
with the professor about the most feasible policy approaches to the paper if there is any doubt on their part. The recommended format/structure for this

•Title (Choose a catchy title)

•The body (comprised of clearly and well-structured arguments that support/advocate for the specific policy change you are seeking). Scholarly/academic
sources must be used for this section.•Policy ImplicationsoSuggested revisions in policy
Effects of the revised policy or policies
Advantages and disadvantages of each policy option (Be sure to end with the need to proceed with the policy option you are advocating for when developing
your advocacy policy brief).
Recommendations
Scholarly/Academic sources must be used to provide evidence for the implications you are discussing.

Do not repeat what you’ve already said in the paper.
Explain how urgent the situation is and how important the policy options are that you recommended.
A minimum of six (6) scholarly/academic sources must be referenced in this assignment. A reference page of citations in APA 7thedition style is also
