State of Purpose in Gender Study

In what ways do you expect to contribute to the programme? * Please consider the concept of gender in relation to social change. Why is it a useful concept in analysing changes in the social and political sphere? I was major in social work and the statement should elaborate the work i have been done over intersectionality: race, gender, age, ethnicity, class, sexuality. I have attended courses like Theory of Oppression Social Justice, Social Health and Social Service, Social Policy, Theoretical Community Practice, Assessing Building Organizing Community, Train the Champion (Office for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity) which include gender theories and topics in lectures and trainings. While i was in school, im running three student orgs, unicef, ​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍​international student conmection and student coucil. I always bring gender perspectives in them. I also worked as a community organizer in local community to advocate gender equality. I worked along with immigrant women fron east and south east aisa to advocate for their rights and build community, i also hosted regular healing circles for asian young adults who identify themselves as LGBTQIA+ members but cant talk about their identity with their family and culture. I often hold book club to talk about body, power imbalance, intersectionality and learn about Judith Butler, Naomi Wolf, Virginia Woolf, Betty Friedan, Simon de Beauvior, Elaine Showalter, etc. Figures like Judith bulter, maya anglou are the lights for me to wake up from the patriarchy maze i was immersed in. I used to stay in the states about 10 years, within this ten years, i see myself reconnecting with my identity. I embrace who iam biologically, I personaliy identify myself as non binary, and have experienced gender stereotypes and gender based power abuse i as grow up. Visibility is a trap when our identity is not acceptable by the society. Being unseen and unheard is daily experience, although im a tough and loud activism. Gender perspective in todays society with highly intersectionality such as refugee and immigrants, its important to learn it in a colloborative and creative way to see how we can make social and cultural change​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍​.
