Professional Development and Leadership

Here is the Instructions about the Task 3: Intent: Students demonstrate ability to reflect with peers on an aspect of their professional experience to explore the relationships between theory and practice. Task brief: Complete one of the following tasks: Task A: Engineering Professional Development Resource: i) identify an area or dimension of your degree studies that contrasted with what you learned during your internship; ii) prepare a professional development resource (e.g. a case study) together with a rationale/exegesis for the resource that shares your experience with other undergraduate students and explains your understanding of how this experience relates to engineering theory; iii) present the resource at the Professional Development and Leadership Forum and engage with feedback about its value and effectiveness (see Teaching and learning strategies section of the Subject Outline); iv) write a short reflection (minimum 500 words) upon the experience of soliciting and receiving this feedback from peers and and what you learned from this. This task should be submitted as a final repo​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍​rt containing: a) background/rationale for the resource; b) the resource; and c) reflection on the presentation of the resource to peers, academic staff, or industry representatives. Task B: Scoping Report for Chartered Engineer Status i) research the current requirements* for Engineers Australia (EA) Chartered Engineer status; ii) reflecting on your experience during your internships, prepare a short report that demonstrates your capability to meet at least two of the EA stage 2 competencies at functional level or above; iii) prepare a presentation of the information contained in the report and present this at the Professional Development and Leadership Forum and engage with feedback about its value and effectiveness (see Teaching and learning strategies section of the Subject Outline); iv) write a short reflection (approximately 500 words) upon the experience of soliciting and receiving this feedback from peers and what you learned from this. This task should be submitted as a final report containing: a) a brief background summary of the current Chartered process* and the benefits of chartered status; b) competency claims against a minimum of two EA stage 2 competencies; and c) reflection on the presentation of the background and competency claims to peers, academic staff, or industry representatives. * Engineers Australia has recently changed the process for Chartered status. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the most up-to-date information. Information taught in previous Engineering Professional Practice Program subjects may no longer be current.
