Writing for Literature Review
You are required to write and submit the literature review for your project and submit it.
Requirements for the literature review: The review should be no less than 4 pages (not including References), double spaced, font size of 12 in Time New Roman. The literature review should include four components:
1. A title– that is your research title or a temporary title to highlight your research focus
2. Author information: your name and student info.
3. Main Body of literature review. this is the central piece of the literature review. Please organize it in a logical way. Please refer to the previous content on what is literature review and what to write in a literature review to write the main body. As everyone has a different research project, the main body is project-specific and reflects its own content.
4. References. This is a separate section at the end of literature review paper. References are not counted in the required pages.
Writing is a not easy task. However, as a pathway to the Capstone project paper, you will need to practice and forge the writing ability and skills. In the course of writing literature review, you will need search some papers relevant to your research project, which I have requested everyone to read and write weekly report. That may not be sufficient to write a literature review. You may continuously search and add readings in. Internet and Google Scholar are always good venues that you can search the relevant literature. Take a journal paper you find relevant to your research, read the “Introduction” part of the journal paper. The “Introduction” section gives an example of how to write a literature review.
Another note is the citing of reference. When you write the literature review and any sections of the capstone paper in the near future, you will need cite the references to give peers credit on their research. One of the requirements for the literature review is to cite references. You should cite the relevant reference (paper, internet resources, reports etc..) appropriately in the literature review, and list the reference at the end of review. This will save a whole lot of your time when you write the final research paper. If you write this review very well, you can incorporate it in your final paper. Please read the following paper to learn how to cite reference in a research paper.

Tips for Scientifically Citing References in GIS Capstone Paper.docx
Final Note: Please submit (Attach) your literature review in the below discussion area so that everyone can see it. In the course of doing research project, you may constantly look for some resources and read references, whichever you find useful and get some ideas/help out of them, please note those references and add them to your literature review. Write a short summary of those reference and citation. When it is the time to compile your final project paper, you can easily add all these elements in your paper without scratching your head to dig out them from memories
