Final Project Instructions and Process:
Student will use their knowledge on the books and plays they have read to complete this final
project. You will have to write areflection on a character from each book and choose a theme that
relate to each character and apply it to the real world.
Please provide subtitles to each sections for clarity purposes when marking.
In your final Project, you MUST provide all of the following:
1. Character, Theme, and Real World Reflection
You will write anessay based on the books and plays you have read throughout the course:
 Animal Farm by George Orwell
 The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
 King Lear by William Shakespeare
First, choose at least one character from each of the books listed above. (A total of 3 characters
or more, one from each book)
Second, choose the theme(s) that relate to the character(s) you have chosen. (A total of 3 themes,
one for each character)
Third,apply the themes to the real world. Before making connections you should answer these
questions.
 Can the themes be applied to the real world?
 Can the characters and themes from the books be applied to people in the real world?
 If it can, will it affect you as a person or your way of living?
To show the importance of the characters and themes you chose, you must provide quotes from
the story as part of your reflection.
This reflection must be double spaced, using size 12 font (Arial or Times New Roman)
Minimum of 600 words and Maximum of 800 words
2. Reflection Draft:
 The student must provide a draft different from their final copy.
 The draft must show signs of revision and editing of grammar, vocabulary, punctuation,
and sentence structure.
3.ReflectionImages:
You need to provide three (3) images that show the relationship between the characters and
themes from the books and the real world. The images do not have to be in detail or drawn, as
long as you can explain how they relate to your reflection.
4. Image Explanation:
Explain the details of your three (3) images and how they are related to the characters, themes,
and connections to the real world. (Explain ALL three images, and not just one general
explanation)
Answer the questions below about your choice of images:
 What is the purpose, and audiences of your images?
 What is the message each image is trying to covey to the reader/audiences?
 What are other media forms you could have used? Explain each of the media forms you
listed.
5. References:Include a reference list of the three books in proper MLA and APA format, and if you used online
resources, also, provide the referencesin proper MLA and APA format. Marks will be deducted
for improper citations.

6. Brainstorming/Note-takingEvidence:
Show evidence of generating and developing ideas for your reflection and connection between
the books and the real world. The evidence can be in the form of taking notes, mind map, etc. It
can be in point form.
Note: (This is NOT the same as a draft.)
7.Class Discussion:
Student will discuss variety of strategies and techniques learned throughout the course.
You must discuss the following:
 Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your reading, writing, oral communication, and
media interpretation.
 How each of the types of skills has helped you improve your English.
Hand in a copy of your discussion for marks
