Compose an essay comparing the process of how a first-time juvenile offender versus an adult
offender might be handled by police, the court system, and probation and parole systems. Begin
your essay with an introduction that briefly describes how the functions of each system differ
between juveniles and adults, making sure to address the emphasis on rehabilitation in each
system. Then analyze the systems, making sure to address each of the following:
 Discuss the emphasis on rehabilitation in each system.
 Are there options in the juvenile process that might benefit offenders in the adult system to reduce
recidivism? How might these be adapted to improve the system?
 Are there options in the adult system that might benefit offenders in the juvenile process to reduce
recidivism? How might these be adapted to improve the system?

count toward the page requirement. You must use at least two peer-reviewed or academic sources
to support your essay. All sources used must have APA style citations and references.
