Data Analysis Reflection Essay

Reflect on your experience learning about the demographic data and historical information from this project. Analyze the material and apply it to your own life by providing examples that explain your perceptions and how they are or were similar to and different from the information you studied. Reflect on and describe how research can help us better understand the world by adding context to our experiences and observations.

Here are the specific assignment requirements:

• Format your paper according to MLA-style document design rules (see template in Module 4).

• Give your essay an original title.

• Write an introductory paragraph that ends with a thesis statement. Your thesis statement should be one sentence that describes your overall takeaway from this project.

• Combine, revise, and expand your answers to the Module 4 discussion forum prompts. Double check that you followed the original directions for all five of those forums:
¨ Klas Discussion Forum
¨ Miami Housing Discussion Forum
¨ Economics Discussion Forum
¨ Maps Discussion Forum

• Create transitions between the paragraphs. You may be able to do so by adding a few words, or you might need to add a few sentences or even a transition paragraph.

• Write a concluding paragraph that rephrases your thesis, reemphasizes your main supporting points, and leaves your reader with a closing thought.

• Your essay must be at least six paragraphs and provide a balance of your own experiences and the data we studied for this project. Focus on your own experiences and use the source material for support.

• Do not look at, consult, include, copy, paraphrase, quote, or cite any outside sources. Instead, write based only on your own experiences and observations and the sources provided through the course (the articles and the maps).

¨ While you must use first-person perspective for this paper (I, me, my, mine, myself), your paper should not contain any second-person pronouns (you, your, yours, yourself, yourselves).

• Consider visiting the Writing Center’s Virtual Room or using Smarthinking’s Essay Center (see link in the Course Menu in Blackboard). Plan ahead to get feedback in time to revise by the deadline.

• Proofread ten times.

• Submit your final essay to the Turnitin Drop Box for Data Analysis Reflection Essay in Module 4. Review your Similarity Report, fix any problems, and resubmit if necessary.
