Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to provide an opportunity for you to review the role and
impact of global environment policies on operations management.
Skills: You will practice following skills:
• Collecting and evaluating the necessary information from various sources
• Summarizing the most relevant information on your topic
• Composing a well-organized, clear, and thorough discussion on selected topics
Knowledge: This assignment will help you understand:
• Paris climate agreement
• Environment sustainability
• Impact of sustainability on operations managementTask:
The Paris Agreement is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change. Under the Paris agreement, participating countries need to determine, plan, and report their
progress to mitigate climate change. Although the previous US president Donald Trump withdrew the US
from the Paris agreement, President Joe Biden signed an executive order to rejoin the Paris agreement
hours after he was sworn-in on January 20.
Research about the recent developments regarding the Paris agreement. Then, discuss the environment
policies and targets of the US government and how they affect in global, national, and individual business
contexts. Discuss in detail about how the environment policy changes affect the operations management
activities for small and medium scale businesses.
Also, assume that you were asked to develop actions that meets the new policy changes of the
government in an organization that you are familiar with (a place you worked, a place you studied, etc.).
Recommend few actions that you can implement to improve environment sustainability of that
organization.

Criteria:
Your research paper should be minimum 750 words and maximum 2000 words, excluding references
and appendices. This assignment will be graded using the “Rubric for writing assignments” criteria,
which is stated in the syllabus.
You may refer various source, including but not limited to Wikipedia, Academic journals, Media reports,
Websites, and Books. Be sure to cite all the resources you refer. Do not copy and paste from the sources
you refer, except for definitions or noteworthy statements.

You are required to present your work in the format given below.
Section 1-Introduction
The Introduction includes the following information:
• The objectives and scope of the investigation
• A description of the structure of the report that allows the reader to know what to expect
• Do not discuss the findings of the literature review here
Section 2-Literature Review
This section should include followings:
• Brief history of the topic. (Do not discuss things not related to the topic, such as how to prevent
coronavirus, the status of finding a cure, etc.)
• Different approaches for similar situations in the past.
• Recent developments in the field. Give examples related to the topic. Cite your sources.
Section 3-Discussion
This section should include followings:
• Discuss whether the statement is correct or not based on the literature review
• Discuss how past approaches can be used for current situation. Discuss what and how much is different
from past similar scenarios.
• Discuss the current course of action, its effects, and any evidence to support it
• Proposed actions and how it might affect the future results
Section 4: Conclusions & Recommendations
The Conclusions and Recommendations section closes the report. The information included in this section is:
• A summary of the problem and the objective of the investigation
• A brief description of proposed actions
• Offer closing remarks including the limitations of the research
References
This section includes professional citations of books, articles, websites, etc. that were used during theinvestigation. References should be numbered. References should be cited in the report.
Appendixes
The appendix starts in a different page. The appendix might include:
• Tables
• Charts that support decision making
• Any other information that support the report.
All information included in the appendix section needs to be referenced in the report. Each appendix should
have a
title and an appendix number
