• Context: This assignment asks you to engage with the readings from week 4 (history), and/or week 5
(subculture vs. mainstream), and/or week 6 (identity). Many games and game genres are aimed at clearly
defined audiences, this creative assignment asks you to envision an alternative audience for an existing
game or game genre by designing a poster.
• Goal: There are two parts to this assignment. 1) Create a fake poster. You can use PowerPoint, Keynote,
or any other software. Pick an existing digital game (e.g. Candy Crush or Call of Duty) and find associated,
existing visual material online (e.g. screenshots, existing posters, or logos). Then, use old and new visuals
and slogans to target your game at a different audience than intended (e.g. Call of Duty for grandmothers).
Upload your poster as a PDF. 2) Write a very brief statement (300 words max., excl. refs.) where you point
