Participants were sent the Framing Effect study survey via an online link from experimenters. The first page introduced the experiment as mandatory for participants and gave them contact information if they had any questions or issues completing the study. The next page requested participants’ information to receive credit for taking the survey, as well as their demographic background as detailed previously. Next, they completed the self-report sections of their attitudes regarding math, statistics, public speaking, and writing. Then they were presented with the hypothetical role-play scenario. Upon being introduced to the Avian Flu outbreak, participants were placed into either the gain-frame or the loss-frame condition and shown the certain and risky treatment options for their respective condition. All participants were then asked to make their choice between the certain and risky treatment options. Finally, participants were asked to rate their emotional feeling regarding their choice of treatment and subsequently thanked for their participant in the study.
