For your final assignment, compile an online literary magazine that consists of 7 works that we have read
this semester. You should have at least one work from each category that we have read: poetry, short
story, drama. You can make up the difference with whatever works you choose. Here is what it should look
like:
1. Letter from the Editor
This is the “paper” part of your final project. The magazine must follow a theme of your choosing. Think of
it as “Blah Blah Magazine: the (insert theme here) Edition”. You will address this theme and how each of
the seven works fits the theme you chose in a “Letter from the Editor” that should appear first. Most
magazines have something like this in the beginning if you would like to look at an example.
2. Table of Contents
List the title and author of each work you choose in the order they are presented in. Give some thought to
this order. What would make the most sense in a magazine? Chronologically? Organized by type?
Theme? Literary device?
3. Your Seven Short Stories, Poems, or Plays
This part will be a little trickier, so do the best you can. If you can find the full text somewhere, you can
include that. Poems should be easily included, but if you retype it yourself, check, double check and triple
check to make sure it is EXACTLY like it was in the original, down to the last space and comma. If you
can’t find the full text, a link to the text or just a brieft excerpt from the beginning of the text will do. Be sure
to include the citation for the work at the end of each work.
4. Staff Picks
This is the section that you make three recommendations beyond what you included. For each
recommendation, give me a brief summary, tell me why you liked it and why I should read it. This is your final project, so make it look good. It should be proofread perfectly and formatted perfectly.
Feel free to get as creative as you would like, the more the better. Just keep the original texts as they are
and the rest is up to you. Have fun with this! I am looking forward to seeing what you put together
