Legal Brief Memo

Overview:
You are a law clerk for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in your state. The Chief Justice serves as leader of the Judicial Council in your state. The rules regarding court procedures for all counties in your state are governed by the council.

Instructions:
Research the rules regarding court procedures in your state.
Write a memo to the Chief Justice of your state Supreme Course advising him or her on steps the council can take to modify the administration of justice with respect to altering or delaying hearings and trials in each of your state’s counties.

1. You may address civil, traffic, and criminal matters.
2. Think about other possibilities such as changing bail schedules or instituting video arraignments or preliminary hearings so the administration of justice can occur while limiting contact between involved parties.
3, You should also address potential pitfalls of your proposed changes.
4. Write 2 to 3 pages memo.

Tips:
When composing a memo:

Start with a statement explaining the purpose of your memo.
As you continue, give more details that expand your opening statement.
As you finish, explain contingencies and necessary feedback or responses
Any summaries should be terse – no longer than a few sentences.
