After listening to the two-part podcast episodes on The Crime Machine from Reply All, you will write a discussion post where you will discuss and reflect upon the major themes presented in the episodes. While I provide some suggestions below to get you started, you have some flexibility in what you can focus on. The most important things I am looking for are (1) I want to see that you critically thought about the material presented and (2) you used scholarly evidence to support your arguments.

Questions to guide you as you work on this assignment:
What do these themes tell us about policing- both its practice and its relationship with the community?
How does policing practice differ from the theory or written policy?
How did pressures from management end up making the crime rate unreliable?
What are key policy implications or changes that could flow from this case study?
