Some editorialists criticize. Some laud. Some explain. Your editorial will persuade. You’ll use the same creative techniques you’ve already learned in essay writing to explore a fresh idea, perhaps one that you haven’t even yet considered, but find yourself curious about, and then to write persuasively about its worth.
You’ll need support. You’ll need to build an argument with concrete details: researched facts, direct quotes, maybe convincing data. You’ll need a strong agenda, a point of view, an attitude. And finally, you’ll need steps that your readers can take for positive action. In the end, your editorial won’t be able to extol a complete plan in great detail, but it should be enough to enlighten readers.
