What are the detailed instructions for this assignment?
● An engaging title and relevant subheadings to help guide the reader
● A description of the biology of two (2) examples where different social determinants of health can impose barriers to accessing healthcare and/or lead to worse health outcomes. In both examples the description of the biology should be supported by the literature. (1. How health outcomes of Type II diabetes are negatively affected by economic stability I.e delayed treatment or management leading to more serious effects of disease 2. Misdiagnosis of skin conditions in people of colour: Until recently, dermatology, the study of skin diseases, has been taught on light skin tones. Explore how this may impact the treatment for people of colour.)
● For the two examples, a description of the issue – why the social determinants of health impose a barrier to equitable health outcomes.
● For the two examples, some promising developments of how the barriers are being
overcome, or can be overcome. These developments might be social developments (policy changes, changing community attitudes), they might be changes to research practices, or they might be changes in healthcare delivery or training of medical professionals. These developments might be real things that either have happened, are happening or are planned. Alternatively, they could be ways forward that your team has come up with as a potential way to overcome barriers you have identified. At least one promising development should be explored here for each of the two topics.
● A reference list
