– you must use data from two different languages (Bininj Gun-wok language (Gunwinyguan) and Warlpiri language) that you do not know or speak. You will combine descriptive data from grammars (talk about noun phrases) with 5+ journal articles/book chapters on the theoretical literature about that syntactic topic.
Your essay should address: background language information, a description of the structure with examples, a description of the functions of each structure / in what context the structure(s) are used, why the structure in this particular language is interesting theoretically or typologically or how the structure fits (or doesn’t fit) into established typologies on the syntactic topic.
For example: a description of noun phrases in two Australian languages + 5 papers.

A. Finding appropriate references
You need to include at least 5 appropriate references
B. Referencing: The paper must have a list of references at the end, listed alphabetically by surname of author. You should include only references which you refer to in your paper in this list.
D. Structure: Follow the basic guidelines of the outline for your research project. If you are using example sentences in your paper, please number them. If you need to present an example from a foreign language, please give a word-by-word gloss as well as a free translation. For example, a Spanish example used to contrast English verbal inflection with Spanish might look like this:
1) hablo bien, pero tú no hablas bien
speak.1SG well, but you not speak-2SG well
‘I speak well, but you do not speak well’
*You’ll need to make it clear whether the examples you present are examples you have found/made up yourself or are from some source. One way to approach this is to say something in the introduction like ‘except where otherwise indicated, all examples are my own’. When you are quoting an example which someone else has presented, you need to make this clear, such as by making a reference such as (Brinton 1988: 6 ex. 1a).
