Format of the paper should be:
1. Introduction to the topic (i.e. the theories) with a thesis
Thesis ideas: Criminological theories can help explain individual criminal behavior. Tookie Williams’ path to crime can be explained using Life-Course Theory
and Social Disorganization Theory.
2. Detailed explanation of the two (2) theories
This should include any variations in, and history of, both of the theories
as well as any issues with the theories and how modern variations of each theory might have addressed these issues.
3. Descriiption of the person you chose (life, crimes, any relevant information) & application of theories to person
Provide a short descriiption of the person’s life and crimes (but do not sensationalize the crimes—their crimes are not the focus of this paper; their life
circumstances are!) before focusing on specific parts of the person’s life that you can apply each theory to. Apply first one theory, then the next.
