Learning Outcomes The Subject Learning Outcomes demonstrated by successful completion of the task below include:
a) Analyse types of writing appropriate for academic communication: expository, descriptive, narrative, persuasive and analytical.
b) Appraise different genres of academic writing for books, book chapters, articles – conceptual, research, paper, letter, research response, research critique, literature review.
c) Apply and advanced understanding of appropriate types of writing; audience, argument, and genres, through research communication (oral and written).
d) Plan and execute research communication in a required format.
e) Disseminate complex and abstract ideas and edit in compliance with the conventions of research communication.

Assessment Task
You will critically analyse and synthesise the elements of research communication and present your research project outcomes in three Parts: Part A extended abstract (structured abstract format) of your research project; Part B Poster / Infographic or set of 5 PowerPoint Slides and Part C 3-minute video of persuasive presentation of your research project. The aim is to have each type of genre able to stand alone but also to relate to and reinforce each other in an overall research communication strategy.

Context
Students should refer to Assessment Task 1 and especially the argument structure in Assessment Task 2 when working on Assessment Task 3. As with Assessment Tasks 1 & 2, when working on this assessment task, students should refer to the approved research topics provided within their

research area and consult with the supervisor who is overseeing the topic area. Choosing, justifying and delineating appropriate research communication in different genres / for the appropriate audience is one of the key skills of a professional researcher.

To complete this assessment task, you must communicate your research and its outcomes in a poster, an infographic or set of 5 PowerPoint Slides.
