Annotated RD for PSYC B494

For each of the following, indicate Y/N for each aspect of each section as to whether or not you see it in their draft, and then answer the qualitative questions:

1. Introduction Section
a. Purpose/Importance of the study is clearly explained __N____
b. There are at least 6 research articles discussed in this section __Y____
c. Each article is briefly summarized _Y_____
d. Each article has limitations discussed ____N__
e. There are connections between each article, the others and the current study ____N___
f. There is a logical flow to the section ____Y___
g. Concludes with a clearly stated research Hypothesis __Y_____
What is strong about this introduction section?
You’ve got a few strong interesting sentences. Your supportive data is sturdy.

What could make this introduction section even better?
The introduction needs a few sentences restructured and more information added. While you’ve provided 6 research articles, you have not discussed the details of each study. I would try to make a paragraph out of each study and find a way to connect it back to the current study. Also, your title should not be bold, and you do not need to write “introduction”, “literature review”, and “research questions”. These areas should easily flow together without designating the names.

2. Method Section
a. The participants are described clearly ____Y___
b. The inclusion/exclusion criteria is clear ____N__
c. The surveys used are described and cited ____Y___
d. Psytoolkit is described and cited ____N___
e. Procedure is described clearly ___N____
f. All of this section is written in past tense ____N___
What is strong about this method section?
You did a good job mentioning the ages of the participants and how a convenience sample was used. Good job telling the reader how many questions are in the survey.

What could make this method section even better?
There are a few formatting issues. The methods title should be bold and centered. After should be participants, materials, and procedure which should be bold and along the left side. Nothing needs to be numbered. More detail is needed about PsyToolKits and the questions asked in the aggression survey. There were a few added sections that did not need to be present(Sample size, Research Design, Research Methodology, and Data Collection), I would take those out and refer to the example research paper provided in the folders on Blackboard.

3. Results
a. The demographics are reported clearly __N_____
b. The main analysis is reported clearly with results in APA formatting ___N____
c. There are no data tables or individual scores in this section ____N___
What is strong about this results section?
Good job rewriting your hypothesis and explaining the ages of your participants.

What could make this results section even better?
Make sure not to refer to tables the reader cannot view. Your descriptive section could use a few percentages when you are referring to “most respondents belong to the black community”, How many people is this? What percent? There are a few sentences that do not make sense. You have written out the raw mean scores for aggression levels, but are these numbers statistically significant? You need to have your results in APA format.

4. Discussion
a. The results are interpreted clearly __N_____
b. There are clear connections to the articles from the introduction section ____N___
c. Presents limitations of the research ___Y____

d. Presents future suggestions for research ____Y___

What is strong about this discussion section?
You have provided great ideas for your limitations.

What could make this discussion section even better?
While there is a percentage difference between gender, what is your p value? You cannot reject the null hypothesis without the p value being below .05. Also, you did not go into detail about your results, what they mean, and how they connect to the previous research you presented. How are your results similar, and how are they different? Why do these results matter?
For your limitations section, you need to explain why these limitations are limitations. How did your study ignore socio-cultural factors? What do you mean your study did not use a standardized measuring scale? Most of your limitations and future research need more explaining.

Any other comments/feedback?
Don’t forget to write an abstract and place your references on a separate page.
