Final assessment of learning and tasks

Assessment of learning and tasks: Individual. Critical reflection on your own learning, that of your team members, and your role in the research process is part of becoming a social worker. This should include how you incorporated social work values and Community Based Participatory Research principles into your project.

You will submit a two-page narrative which discusses each area and provides ideas on your strengths and areas for development, including that a generalist social worker who will do research and be a reader of research.

In a two-page paper, include:

Discussion of your role and responsibilities in the project. What did you learn during the project, about research, your topic, CBPR, and yourself? How does what you learned in your research courses inform your role as a professional social worker in doing research? In what ways were your research reading skills enhanced? How has your understanding of the research process shifted (or not)? What type of research will you likely engage in as a professional social worker?

Discussion of the group dynamics in the project, and how you worked as a team (or not) in meeting your research goals and the required assignments in the course. How did the process of mutual understanding of assignment goals develop (or not)?

What did you learn from your research encounters and processes– whether interviews or unobtrusive- regarding your research and findings? If it took place, what did you learn from the meeting with the agency staff/elected official, regarding your research and findings?

Do you believe your research is likely to have an impact? Why or why not?
