Project Paper

The Final Project will be the product of each individual student and will involve:
1.) deciding upon a location of interest – preferably a site you intend to visit in the near future,
2.) a descriiption of activities while at that location,
3.) identification of hazards to health and safety that may be posed based on location and activities,
4.) appropriate steps to mitigate those hazards.

* Please take this project seriously and give good effort. We expect more from the poster than a cursory Google search could produce.
* At MINIMUM, double check the destination with the CDC’s traveler’s health page. Use the CDC Yellow Book
–> For the purposes of the poster, you the student are the traveler.
–> Therefore, if you already have received your Hep B vaccine, mention that.
–> If you have asthma, let us know you are carrying your inhaler (you are not expected to disclose any medical condition you wish to keep confidential).
–> Use your space wisely. The poster should be dense, but not jumbled or congested.
–> Photos, maps, and diagrams can add interest, but should not take up considerable room.
–>The poster format should be pretty standard.
–> The itinerary should be as detailed as possible.
–> Be specific about flights, layovers, accommodations, planned trips.
–> The other section materials including health risks, mitigations, etc should also be specific.
–> For example, we will provide many medications that can be used in certain scenarios. If your itinerary takes you into a malaria zone, please do not indicate
that you are taking “malaria pills” but rather make a specific choice (like doxycycline) and then justify why that is your choice.
