NON- EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION
Plan a non-Eucharistic celebration for primary students. The celebration will need to be
appropriate for primary students (Years 3-6). The use of technology is compulsory. The
technology used could be in the form of a youtube clip, or music embedded into the
PowerPoint . The presentation will be planned to be of no more than 20 minutes in duration
and should include student participation. You will need to submit both a powerpoint and a
running sheet.

Length and/or format: 2000 words
Purpose: The purpose of this assessment is to create a non-Eucharistic celebration for
primary students demonstrating an understanding of the principles of liturgy for children.
Learning outcomes assessed: 4 and 5
LO4 – Identify and implement critical teaching and learning processes to the teaching of
scripture with middle and senior primary students (GA4, GA5; APST 2.2, 3.2)
● GA4 think critically and reflectively
● GA5 demonstrate values, knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the discipline
and/or profession
● 2.2 Organise content into an effective learning and teaching sequence.
● 3.2 Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and
effective teaching strategies
LO5 – Identify the many expressions of faith within the multi-cultural and multi-faith contexts
of Australia, including the distinctive contribution Indigenous spirituality makes to religion
within the Australian context and develop appropriate teaching and learning strategies for
the primary religion program (GA1, GA2; APST 1.1, 1.2)
● GA1 demonstrate respect for the dignity of each individual and for human diversity
● GA2 recognise your responsibility to the common good, the environment and society
● 1.1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of physical, social and intellectual
development and characteristics of students and how these may affect learning.
● 1.2 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research into how students learn
and the implications for teaching.
This assignment requires students to express their understanding of complex situations in
relation to Religious Education. Students’ knowledge of inclusion of other religious traditions,
especially Indigenous spirituality will need to be demonstrated through this task. Also,
students’ knowledge of the sacramental life of the Church and how students develop their
moral thinking may be included in this task (LO2, LO3, LO6).
● LO2 – Identify various approaches to sacramental education and develop appropriate
teaching and learning strategies for the middle and senior primary classroom (GA5;
APST 1.1, 2.1)
○ GA5 demonstrate values, knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the
discipline and/or profession
○ 1.1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of physical, social and
intellectual development and characteristics of students and how these may
affect learning.
○ 1.2 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research into how students
learn and the implications for teaching.
● LO3 – Prepare creative Eucharistic and non-Eucharistic liturgies using expertise and
appropriate skills drawn from contemporary curriculum and liturgical documents
(GA3, GA7; APST 2.1, 2.2)
○ GA3 apply ethical perspectives in informed decision making
○ GA7 work both autonomously and collaboratively
○ 2.1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance
and structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area.
○ 2.2 Organise content into an effective learning and teaching sequence.
● LO6 – Analyse and apply moral/values education to the primary classroom religion
program (GA3; APST 2.2, 3.2)
○ GA3 apply ethical perspectives in informed decision making
○ 2.2 Organise content into an effective learning and teaching sequence.
○ 3.2 Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of student learning, content and
effective teaching strategies
