Final Scholarly Presentation
Overview of the Final Presentation
In this course you will get to practice dissemination through the preparation and delivery of a scholarly presentation. In this presentation you will present your Research/EBP proposal as though you were trying to gain approval from administrators or the IRB. Presenting with this in mind will help the presentation go more smoothly by giving you a focused purpose as to why you are presenting. Please note: Students will not be permitted to present if their final paper is not completed and scored with a minimum grade of B.
Mode of Delivery for Final Presentation
You will deliver your final presentation in person. Specific dates TBD.
Scholarly Presentation Tips
Please be sure to present your proposal as though you are trying to get approval for it. I know that many of you do not plan to go forward with these projects, but this mindset will help since the goal of this presentation is to mimic real life where you would defend a proposal. This is what is being graded as part of your culminating portfolio.
Please be familiar with the grading rubrics for the presentation. This presentation will be evaluated in two ways- for this course and as part of your scholarly portfolio that you put together at the end of the program. While many elements overlap, a number of them differ. Please review the rubrics so you are aware of the criteria for each. I encourage you to strive to satisfy the elements contained in each rubric.
You will be graded specifically on your presentation style, most heavily in the portfolio rubric. So be sure to wear presentation attire, rehearse your presentation ahead of time so you make good eye contact and do not need to read from your notes or slides, and be prepared to answer questions from faculty and/or fellow students. Further, if you are working in a group make sure all members have equal time to present the proposal as each person is graded individually for the portfolio.
Please be aware of your presentation time. You have about 20-25 minutes total (this includes time for questions). A good rule is to plan for one minute per slide.
