Final Thesis – (10 credits)

Your final thesis project is the integration of all that you have learned in your past education and life experience. The final thesis project offers a unique and innovative benefit to the cultural and intellectual heritage of humankind.

Traditionally the Final Thesis Project is submitted in written form using an acceptable academic format. Many decades ago, students would go to a library, find books and other written material, then write the thesis using a typewriter. The world has changed since then. Nowadays, the internet gives students access to books, videos, people, web pages and much more from the entire world. Now, there are other formats for a final thesis project that can be more valuable to you than a traditional thesis format. For example, if a student wants to apply for grant money, it is much better to write a grant proposal as the thesis project instead of a traditional academic thesis. Also, a video documentary that can be published on the internet will be viewed much more than a written thesis. Social media is now the means of communication in this world. Social media uses more visual presentations. However, if you plan to continue on a path of producing research studies and presenting your research at conferences, then a traditionally written thesis format is the most appropriate format for your thesis project.

You have several formats available for submitting your final thesis. Choose the one that best represents your talents and goals.
Here is a list of some options. Your creativity may find more options.
• A written thesis of a research project (50 to 80 pages)
• A Plan for community development
• A Business plan
• A Grant proposal
• A collaborative project with an NGO
• A Business model
• A Documentary video (30 to 60 minutes)
• A Whole book (more than 80 pages)
• A Patent
• An Analysis of a project that you participated in that benefitted society.

Here is the general outline for a thesis project:

• Cover page

• Acknowledgements (to people who helped you)
• Abstract (a short summary of thesis, 100 to 300 words with no citations] • Chapter 1: General Introduction

While the above outline may be modified, it is recommended that you follow the general process of the outline. The process of the outline is basically structured into 3 sections.
1. Chapters 1, 2 and 3 develop the introduction to the research project.
2. Chapters 4 and 5 give the body of the work done in the research project, which may include statistical research, a business plan, a grant proposal, a book written, a patent or even an analysis of a project already completed.
3. Chapters 6 and 7 present the conclusion to the research project.
Once the Academic Department positively evaluates the Final Thesis Project (with an ‘A’ or ‘B’) you will schedule a thesis defence.
