Basic essay structure
Intro paragraph:
Give a snappy and enticing 1-2 sentence intro.
State your hypothesis. Your guiding question is, What does this movie do?
Examples:

Conceptual approach paragraph:
Explain the concepts or approaches you will be using, with reference to your research. How will
those scholarly arguments support your own argument?
Body paragraphs:
Build an argument by testing your hypothesis on two or three scenes or moments in the movie.
Present your evidence by describing these moments as clearly as possible, as in the Movie
Analysis).
Relate this evidence to the concepts and approaches you are using. Analyze the movie (or scene)
in light of those arguments.
Synthesize by demonstrating how this analysis supports your hypothesis.
Concluding paragraph:
Restate your hypothesis in a richer form that leads to a new thought.
