Marriage Enrichment Lessons Guidelines

The development and presentation of five marriage enrichment lessons. These sessions are due the final week of class. This assignment is designed to be practical in that it can potentially be used for a Sunday school or discipleship class. You are allowed to choose the five topics for each of the lessons. These lessons can be for premarital couples or married couples. Each lesson should follow the format below.

Lesson # ____

Topic: This section indicates the main focus on the session, i.e., communication, finances, or intimacy.

Rationale: Provide a brief explanation as to why this topic has been deemed important or relevant for married couples.

Goals/Outcomes: Explain what you hope couples will be able to gain from this session or what you would like for them to be able to do at the end of the session. For example, if the session is on finances, an outcome might be for the couple to develop a budget.

Outline of Sessions: This can be done in outline form. However, it should be a thorough listing of all the information that will be presented in session. The outline should include: specific factual information, discussion questions, and Scripture. The use of activities is encouraged, but not required. Failure to include detailed factual information, discussion questions, and Scripture will result in a deduction of points.

Homework: A homework assignment should be given to the couple at the completion of each session. An explanation of the assignment should be included in this session.

Resources: At least three resources should be utilized in the construction of each lesson. Sources must be clearly cited and listed in the bibliography. Different sources should be used in each lesson. If you repeat a resource, you will only receive credit for the resource the first two times it is used. Because it is expected that each lesson will include Scripture, the Bible does not count as one of your three resources.
