MENU:
Breakfast:
1 scrambled egg, 2 slices of whole wheat toast, ½ of fresh avocado, 2 tbsp raspberry jelly or low-fat cottage cheese, 1 teaspoon vegetable oil spread, 8 oz. skim milk, 1 medium apple.
Lunch:
Ham, avocado, tomato sandwich (3-4 thin slices of ham, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, 1 teaspoon butter, ½ cup lettuce, ½ cup tomatoes, ½ medium avocado), 1 serving of baby carrots or celery, one slice of watermelon, 8 oz skim milk.
After school snack:
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, 8 oz skim milk, one medium apple or a small banana.
Dinner:
2-3 oz of grilled chicken or turkey, 1 serving of mashed sweet potatoes mixed with 1 teaspoon of butter or baked potato with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil spread, 1 cup steamed green beans or broccoli, 8 oz no sugar added 100% white grape juice.
Evening snack:
1–1.5 cup of blueberries or strawberries, 1 vanilla Greek yogurt, 8 oz skim milk
