the essay is spilt into 2 parts
q1)
Describe with the aid of diagrams two major buildings, one from Greece and one from Rome. Describe both the physical attributes of each building and how the buildings define the key- differences between the Greek and Roman approach to Architecture.
q2)1. Please choose an architect belonging to the Modernism context.
(a) Contextualise your selected architect into the Timeline format, as demonstrated on page 3 and as discussed in class. The Timeline should map several lines of inquiries such as cultural and contextual influences to help you synthesize the traditional background research (historical, theoretical, precedent studies) into a single visual framework which allows to create new meaning, new connections. Basically, this timeline will be a summary of your essay in part b (10%)
(b) Consider the architect’s work in terms of context, i.e., what theories underpins his/her architecture? What previous work by others underpinned your chosen architect’s work? You should also reflect on: What theories and concepts are used by your chosen architect to underpin the work? You can also consider the impact of your architect on other architects’ works (40%)
Minimum 3, Maximum 6 self drawn images can be used (each image will be worth 100 words) for each question. The timeline will be worth 200 words. The whole text must be limited to 3000 words (this does not need to be equally divided for each question, i.e., one answer can be longer than the other one). +/- 10% word count rule applies.
