Instructions:
Assignment: The United States Government’s three (3) branches of government:
1. Legislative (Chapter 12); 2. Executive (13); and 3. Judicial (Chapter) (Federal
courts)-
– You are to write (Typewritten) a two (2) page paper, covering the United
States Government’s three branches of government; the legislative,
executive and judicial; where their constitutional authority comes from
Article I-Legislative (Congress/Senate), Article II (ExecutivePresidency/VP); and Article III (Judiciary- Supreme Court/federal courts)
with at least two (2) examples of each branch’s powers. For example:
Legislative- Article I, Section 8, authorizes (Congress) House of
Representatives to- impose taxes, adopt the budget; Senate-authorize
presidential appointees and treaties. For example, the Executive-President
under Article II- nominates Supreme Court/Federal judges, issue pardons,
and negotiate treaties. For example, the Judicial-Federal courts- Supreme
Court reviews laws of Congress for constitutionality, decide legal disputes
between two (2) or more states, etc.)
*Remember, you must provide what article of the Constitution authorizes each
branch and at least two (2) examples of their powers- failure to do so will result in
a lower grade.
