Design a laboratory experiment. You must select two variables that may be associated. One variable must be a communication variable. Identify the independent variable and the dependent variable. Write the hypothesis you are testing with your experiment. Provide a conceptual definition of each variable. Describe a manipulation of the independent variable that includes at least two levels of the variable. Write up the instructions you would give to each of your subjects. Then indicate how you would measure the dependent variable. Say which research design you are using and the reasons for selecting that research design. Discuss every issue that is relevant to your experiment. You may have reason to include issues we covered when discussing definitions and measurement. You may need to discuss validity and reliability issues. Ethical issues may be relevant to your experiment. You may point out relevant confounding variables and discuss how you are handling them.
The following variables are prohibited from being used for this assignment
Health variables including food and alcohol consumption or athletic activity
Academic variables including grades and exam performance
This assignment has two parts which should clearly be separated. First, describe the experiment (variables, definitions, hypotheses, subject treatment, experimental design, measurement). Then describe why you made the choices you did and discuss any issues that should be addressed in this experiment.
