The paper must be typed and double-spaced using APA style with citations to support your critique. Papers must include all the areas below and should be written in a
(NARRATIVE FORMAT} with headings.
1. Description of client (1/2 Page)
Briefly describe the interviewee, including demographic information (e.g. class, race, age, gender, ethnicity, rural-urban residence.)
2. Assessment Include Social Justice Issues (1 Page)
Assess the interviewee’s situation, citing strengths as well as difficulties. Note how race, culture, gender, residential patter, age, sexual orientation and/or oppression may be affecting the individual’s situation. Use the literature to document your impressions. If relevant, include influences from family history, as well as supports and stressors in the family or environment.
3. Summarize your interview (1 Page)
Use the handout to provide a summary of your interview.
4. Process Analysis (1 Page)
Examine your recording of the interview using the handout to guide you in your analysis. Note: a) the interviewing skills you used, tell what you hoped to accomplish in using a particular skill or technique; b) your feelings and thoughts during the interview; c) any errors you may have made, and how you would handle this interview if given a change for a replay. Provide support from the literature for your analysis.
5. Analysis of Professional Use of Self (1-2 pages)
This section requires you to assess the way you handled the interview. Please use the handout which requires you to assess your interview in terms obtaining informed consent, use of questions, and other values and skills. Please respond to what you observe about your use of empathy, if biases existed that may have interfered with your ability for empathy, the way anxiety affected your ability to be empathetic, to listen, and to explore. Please share your observations about your affect and body posture, the problems you need to further work on (e.g., moving from one topic to another, avoiding painful feelings, imposing your own agenda). Provide documentation for your analysis.
