Exercise – Personal Brand Pitches
Type: Individual
Length: 60 seconds
Instructions
Prepare the following two personal brand pitches to be delivered in class. You will be
evaluated on the four criteria discussed in the textbook: 1)Hook the listener; 2) Have a
point of view; 3) Sell yourself; and 4) Be brief, but leave room for future connections.
Scenarios:
1. You entered an elevator with the CEO of your dream company. Give a lasting
impression to secure an opportunity to further discuss the possibility of you
working for the company.
2. The CEO of an amazing company that you’d like to work for, Lammination Inc.,
is standing behind you in line at Starbucks. The only problem is that you’ve heard
that the CEO, Dr. Eric Lamm, does not like to hire Millennials or GenZers
because he believes they are lazy and lack perseverance. Convince him why
hiring someone from your generation would add value to the company, and prove
Dr. Lamm’s stereotypes incorrect.
