Discussion Post Guidelines:
1. (5pointstotal) The Initial Post should be a minimum of two paragraphs based on the discussion topic and
can reference powerpoints, readings, films, or any course material. I want to hear your opinion and your
working knowledge of the material.
(The discussion posts can be answered in many different ways, I encourage well-thought-out and creative
opinions based on experiences, acquired knowledge, general feelings on the topic, and tie it back to the
sociological understanding of society. You will not receive points for posting one sentence and not
referencing the course material or simply saying “I agree” to someone else’s post because that is not
contributing.) This class will explore deeply sensitive and passionate topics that everyone has had their
own experiences and beliefs. All posts will be tolerant of all other viewpoints, there will be no hate,
mocking, trolling, or any other activity that creates an unwelcoming environment. The purpose of college is
to learn from all other viewpoints and share your thoughts in the diversity of ideas.
