The types of concerts acceptable for concert reviews include orchestral, choral, solo recital, chamber music, opera performances, and any musical performance listed on the Department of Music’s Calendar of Events (available in the Content | Introduction/Resources tab). Other concerts must be cleared with the instructor prior to attending.
Concert Report Forms are found near the end of the textbook. Reports include background (researched) information on composers and works performed and an informed critique of the performance. The critique portion should be your own carefully thought out reaction to the performance. Translate what your ears have heard into words.
Sources for research may be found in the University Library and online databases provided by the Library. Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians/Oxford Music Online is a good place to start looking for information.

The Concert Report should be scanned and submitted, along with the scanned ticket stub and the front cover of the signed concert program, by the due dates indicated in the course’s Schedule Calendar. If the concert is from the Department of Music’s performance calendar, there will be one or more music professors present (they will be introduced at the beginning of the concert). See one of them to sign your program–after the concert. If it’s some other preapproved concert, you will need a signature from a conductor or performer.
