Media & Culture Assignment (Group Project)
This is a group assignment. Together you are to develop a PowerPoint presentation illustrating and explaining the impact of the media on culture and policy. You are to use three different sources to complete the PowerPoint presentation. The sources should include the following:
1. An article from an entertainment or fashion magazine or internet site (e.g., People, Us, Essence, Vibe, Ebony, etc.).
2. An article from a political news magazine or internet site (e.g., CNN, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times, Newsweek, etc.).
3. An article from a technology magazine or internet site (e.g., Technology Review, Wired, PC Magazine, etc.).
For each article, please explain how the focus of the article, whether it be a new innovation, policy, or fashion item, will impact culture.
The presentation should ultimately include five slides as indicated below: Each member of the group will select a slide to complete. If you choose an article you may use two slides if you are not able to place your information on the slide with the article. One person will complete the power point with everyone’s completed slides and submit it. Please include each member name on the cover or introduction of the assignment. You are required to report the references either within the power point slides or as a reference page.
The remaining members will submit their particular slide in the assignment submission session. This will trigger a place for a grade. You do not need to submit the complete assignment just your portion. I encourage everyone to view the final submission and agree upon its completion before your classmate submits the final copy. Should someone not complete their portion the assignment will need to be completed and the group will take up the slack. The person you decide to be your group leader will inform me if someone did not submit or complete their parts. Everyone in the group does not need to email me if someone is not doing their part.
You can choose your form of meeting place or communication whether it be text, email, blackboard collaborate, google etc. Each member is responsible for a part. I will not be accepting individual projects. I will assign members to a group and they will be posted in the announcement section. Some one should volunteer to be the leader or get the group started.
