Malintzin’s Choices: An Indian Woman in the Conquest of Mexico

Write an essay explaining what scholars and the general public have gotten wrong or misunderstood about Malintzin and why. How should we characterize
her response to the Spaniards and her role in the conquest of Mexico? Would you say Malintzin was a powerful person? How so or why not? Your essay
should explain with concrete examples what choices she made and why.

Your essay should be 5 pages in length (about 1,500 words), double-spaced, and typed. Please use normal margins and font, and include a cover page with
your name, the date, and the title of your essay. By turning in an essay, you acknowledge that you are familiar with the CSUS policy on cheating and
plagiarism.
You will need to write a first draft of your paper. When done, review the following points:
Do you have an introduction that explains the scope of the paper, its structure and its argument?
Does each paragraph refer to a coherent issue and is it supported with evidence?
Are the paragraphs in an order that allows your argument to develop?
When you can answer yes to all of the above questions, you are almost ready to submit the final version of the paper. Before doing so, be sure to check the
following:
Are the spelling, punctuation, and grammar in the paper correct?
Are the pages numbered?
Is there is a separate cover page that indicates your name, the date, and the title of the paper?
