Integrated Strategies, Tactics, and Stakeholders

The Assignment:
Over the course of the semester, we have looked at a number of IMC tactics and evaluated the
effectiveness. Now is the time to put your skills to good use and prepare your own IMC toolkit!
Each student will create a professional portfolio featuring the following IMC tools: Social
Media, Blog, Website, Infographic, and Podcast & Video. These tools are all items that could be
used when interviewing for an internship or job.
1) Social Media
-Create a complete social media account on LinkedIn
-Include the following:
-A “Profile” that is complete (with your name, title, location, photo, work experience,
educational background, volunteer experience, skills, accomplishments, and contact info)
-A “Recommendation” (ask someone to recommend you)
-At least one post (share something that you have recently accomplished professionally)
-Connect with as many of your COM 348 colleagues as possible
2) Blog
-Using WordPresss, create a complete autobiographical blog with active navigation tabs
-Include the following:
-A “Homepage” that is complete (with copy and images)
-An “About” that is complete (with copy and images)
-At least two complete blog posts on a topic of your choice (with copy and images)
3) Website
-Using Wix or Squarespace, create a complete autobiographical website with active navigation
-Include the following:
-A “Homepage” that is complete (with copy and images)
-An “About” that is complete (with copy and images)
-One additional complete page on a topic of your choice (with copy and images)
4) Infographic
-Using Canva, create a complete infographic resume with copy and visually appealing images
-Include the following:
-Your name, contact info
-Your educational background
-Your work experience
-Any additional relevant info (i.e. volunteer experience, skills, accomplishments, etc.)
a. Video & Podcast
-Using your mobile device, create a complete video spot and a complete podcast/audio spot
highlighting your professional skills.
Video Spot:
-Prepare a script for a 30 to 60-second spot
-Record the audio (your script) and video
-Submit your script (typed)
Radio Spot:
-Prepare a script for a 10 to 60-second spot
-Record the audio (your script)
-Submit your script (typed)
The Grading Criteria:
Each of the five tactics will be graded out of a total of five points. The grade will be based on
four categories, including: 1) completion & thoroughness, 2) creativity & visual appeal,
3) mechanics & accuracy, and 4) demonstrated understanding.
The following grading rubric will be used:
-5/5: Student submits work that illustrates full proficiency.
-Scores between 4.5 and 0.5: Student submits work that illustrates some proficiency.
-0/5: Student submits work that does not illustrate any proficiency.
The IMC Toolkit must be completed when it is due, completed in full, and completed to the
degree that it demonstrates understanding of course material. It will lose credit if it is not fully
completed and/or does not demonstrate understanding of course material. It cannot be completed
via email, cannot be completed after it is due, and cannot be made up, unless this is discussed
with the professor beforehand.
-The IMC toolkit will be worth 25 points toward the overall course grade.
