Select ONE of the following essay questions to answer. Your response should fit within TWO double
spaced, 12-pt. font, typed pages. In your answer, you should:
a. Define any terms you use.( YOU SHOULD DEFINE AT LEAST 3-5 PSYCHOLOGICAL TERMS THAT
YOU USE)
b. Whichever essay you pick, refer to at least five experiments.(THE EXPERIMENTS SHOULD BE FROM
5 DIFFERENT ARTICLES AND NOT FROM ONE!!)
c. In describing an experiment, specify the design (i.e. the variables, what was
manipulated) and the outcome.

1. What should you do to remember something over the long term? How can you make it stick?
2. According to the Atkinson & Shiffrin model, how many memory systems are there? Describe at least

describe one alternative theory to the multi-store approach.
3. What is transfer appropriate processing, and what are some of the studies used to demonstrate it?
