FOOriginal posts are expected to be three paragraphs long. Details and specific examples are better than generalizations. I want to read that you fully understand the material to avoid any misunderstandings. If you understand by the end of the week, I will not reduce your grade because you misunderstood the material in your first post. But I will take off points if you just give generalizations in your initial post or your (two substantial) responses. Your initial discussion question responses and peer responses should be professionally written with proper spelling and grammar, no informal writing is allowed.
· Use APA formatting to refer to sources. This is a great habit to get into as you will need to apply this skill in your written assignments and in discussions for the rest of your academic career.
Approach to Change Management
Define and compare the change management concept with the contingency approach. Drawing from this week’s lecture and readings, provide a specific example for either the change management concept or the contingency approach. How might cultural barriers and communication constraints affect the change process?
Vision and Organizational Change
Locate one scholarly article that discusses vision in relation to specific companies going through organizational change. The change could be growth, decline, or some form of restructuring. Select a company that is featured in the article, and go to that company’s website to view the vision statement for the organization. Using the vision statement of your chosen company, discuss the following points:
· Evaluate the article and describe the current vision statement and the change occurring within the organization.
· Does the vision statement meet the challenges of the overall change initiative?
· Possible revisions that could be made to the vision statement to meet the image of the organization after changes have been implemented.
· Restructuring
Imagine that you are the liaison between the decision makers and the followers and that your role is to communicate potential personnel change initiatives. Using the communication strategies found in the text, what actions will you take to format the conversation with employees regarding the restructuring process?
· Skillful Communication
There are specific qualities required to successfully communicate change initiatives within an organization. Drawing from this week’s lecture and readings, discuss some of the most important leadership skills required to develop employee ownership and acceptance of change initiatives within an organization.
Productive Failure
Sometimes things go wrong and it’s not always a bad thing. Define and discuss the concept of productive failure. Discuss a time in your organization’s history (or an organization you are familiar with) when a change process failed. Explain the situation and what was learned in the process. Why do some organizations fail but become stronger while others fail to recover?
Making Change Stick
While change is inevitable in most organizations, there is a difference between change that is superficial and embedded sustaining change. Drawing from this week’s lecture and readings, discuss the processes for successfully implementing and sustaining change. Provide examples that are designed to help make change stick and apply at least one of the examples to an organizational change with which you are familiar.
