Paper details
I know that there are those who hypothesize that humans are no longer evolving. What do you think? If we
are, where do you think the species may be going, and in response to what kind of pressures? Do you see
evolutionary science as having any impact on your practice?
This presentation is not intended to present all world views, nor to give equal time to other closely held
ideas of the development of the human species. There are also those who do not believe in evolutionary
science, and it is certainly possible that you or some of your colleagues in this class take that part. If you
are one who does not see evolution as a viable theory of human development how might you see using – or
not using – the presentation this week to inform your practice? What sorts of challenges might this science
present as you work with clients who believe otherwise? Does the practice setting matter: hospital/mental
health/schools/criminal justice?
