Cause and Effect Paragraph

The Task
Draft a cause and effect paragraph. You can choose to write about something (a cause) that results in multiple effects, or you can write about multiple
causes that result in an outcome (an effect).
You may pick anything for your topic, but it should be something that you are either interested in or have first-hand experience with, or both.
Your paragraph should follow conventional paragraph structure, beginning with an introductory sentence, followed by some body sentences and then
finishing with a concluding sentence. The total number of sentences may vary but will typically be somewhere in the range of five to eight. The paragraph
should be submitted in APA format, complete with a title page, and reference page if necessary.
In your topic sentence you should give an introduction of the cause(s) and effect(s) you are writing about, making their relationship clear.
In a paragraph that describes multiple effects, each body sentence should be devoted to an elaboration of each different effect, explaining what that effect is
and how it results from the cause mentioned in your topic sentence.
In a paragraph that describes multiple causes, each body sentence should be devoted to an elaboration of each different cause, explaining what that cause is
and how it results in the effect mentioned in your topic sentence.
The concluding sentence should wrap up the paragraph, and link back to the topic sentence. Draw a conclusion from the points in your body, but make sure
you don’t introduce new information.
Before you submit the paragraph, make sure you have reread your writing and made any necessary changes to make sure that your cause & effect paragraph
is effective, including:
Content—do you clearly explain the relationship between cause(s) and effect(s)? Do you elaborate and give specific evidence or examples?
Wording of your sentences—are you being clear and engaging? Does your writing flow?
Organization of your thoughts—are they expressed in an order that makes it easy for the reader to follow you?
Use of punctuation—is it conventional and effective?
Standard English—have you checked your grammar, capitalization and spelling?
If you have done any research, make sure you include a reference page, and list your sources in APA format.
