Paper details
The primary mechanism of injury is a fall on the outstretched hand with an extended, radially deviated wrist,
which results in extreme dorsiflexion (extension) at the wrist and compression to the radial side of the hand.
The patient complains of deep, dull pain in the radial wrist. The pain is worsened by gripping or squeezing.
There is swelling and bruising and a fullness in the anatomic snuffbox, suggesting wrist effusion.
The following radiograph is provided for your review.
Please determine the appropriate physical examination for this injury and discuss the acute and definitive
treatment. Write a comprehensive paper discussing the anatomy and blood supply, diagnosis, clinical and
