2- STRESSORS AND REWARDS

Assignment 1

For this assignment, imagine that you have already achieved the career goal toward which you are currently working. What is your job title?

Now, consider your weekly routine and imagine the stressors and rewards you will be facing in a typical week.

This is a four-part assignment as follows.

1. WEEKLY SCHEDULE
First, create a week’s worth of a schedule for each hour in the day, scheduling in tasks, appointments and private time (sample schedule provided below). To do this accurately, you may wish to do some research online, or find some peer-reviewed articles related to your career of choice.

2. WEEKLY STRESSORS AND REWARDS
Second, reflect upon the week. What do you think are your biggest stressors? What do you think will be the week’s accomplishments and rewards? Did you have time in the week for your hobbies and social relationships? Please write down answers to these questions and color-code the most stressful tasks (highlight one color) and accomplishments, rewards and achievements (highlight a different color) in the week’s schedule.

3. COPING WITH STRESSORS (starts on pg 635 in textbook)
Now, taking from the course section on Stress & Health, or using relevant peer-reviewed sources, create a list of coping methods for yourself that will help you maintain your wellness and happiness throughout the week. What do you think will help you cope with the stressors that you highlighted in the week’s schedule? Think of some healthy ways to cope with the demands of week in the life of someone with this career. Provide in-text citations here.

4. PROPER IN-TEXT CITATIONS AND REFERENCES
Please cite the book, or other sources in text, and provide a Reference page in APA style at the end of the assignment.

Each section will be graded out of 5 points according to the rubric below.

Weekly stressors and rewards were barely listed or highlighted. Student did not give an answer. OR response demonstrates extreme misunderstanding (or extremely inadequate understanding) of the assignment.
Coping with Stressors The response clearly identifies coping strategies for dealing with identified stressor. Proper in-text citation is provided. Some stressors were identified and coping strategies, however assignment could improve as per instructor’s feedback. Some stressors and coping strategies were identified but there is no empirical evidence supporting the relationship. See instructor’s feedback.
