Using prerecorded lectures (links provided below), material from Chapters 27, 28, 29, and 30 from The American Challenge, and in The American Challenge Reader, or approved other sources noted above, describe the rise of the three post-World War II civil rights movements. Choose from three of the following: the African American, Latinx, Native American, the LGBTQ, and women’s freedom struggles. How did World War II create a political atmosphere in the United States that promoted the rise of these movements? What motivated these movements? What triumphs and defeats did these movements experience? Who were the leaders of these movements? What books did leaders of the movements write and what important reforms did they inspire? What similarities did these freedom struggles have with the environmental movement? Finally, how did the political establishment react to these movements?
