Essay: A Defining Moment in Our History
The aim of this essay is to write a 5-paragraph composition that is analytical and argumentative. You will choose an event, person, movement, etc. that you think defines the Canadian history of the 20th century and you will make the argument as to why it is the most important thing/event of the period. Note that it doesn’t have to be a good thing!
This final test represents 15% of your final score.
Your essay should be written using an academic and formal style. A narrative from the 3rd person’s point of view is THE ONLY accepted point of view (“ON”). Spelling, grammar and structure will be heavily censored.
BE FOREWARNED THAT PLAGIARISM – COPYING DIRECTLY FROM A SOURCE OR FAILING TO CITE YOUR SOURCES – WILL RESULT IN A MARK OF ZERO.
WIKIPEDIA IS NOT AN ACCEPTED SOURCE FOR THIS ESSAY.
Will be 3-5 pages in length
Will be written in MLA style: typed, Times New Roman size 12, double-interline, one-inch margins, numbered pages, references in the text and a page of references bibliographic at the end.
Should include a minimum of 3 references (1 for each argument). These references should come from more than a source of excellent quality.
Will use the point structure, evidence, analysis for each paragraph. Several evidences per paragraph help your argument.
