Students are to review NASW’s Code of Ethics and write a paper comparing and contrasting their personal values with the values contained in the Code. Students should critically evaluate their own values and thoughtfully give examples of areas of compatibility with their own values as well as areas on incompatibility.
Questions to be addressed in your paper:
At this time what are the three most important values in your life?
Where/how did you develop your value system? (think about your family, friend, specific events, etc.)
How do your values compare/contrast with the six core values in the NASW Code of Ethics?
What ethical standards in the NASW Code of Ethics would be easiest for you to uphold? (choose at least two)
What ethical standards in the NASW Code of Ethics would be most difficult for you to uphold? (chose at least two)
How might any areas of difference between your personal values and the NASW Code of Ethics affect your ability to practice social work?
This paper should demonstrate that you have read required readings and taken the time to think critically about the content. The paper should be in MLA or APA format (does not need an abstract but title page is required), double spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins and 3-4 pages in length (title page is not included in length—you need 3-4 pages of CONTENT).
