PROJECT 7

The goal for this project is to develop a plan for a small project using a Gantt tool and a Quality Control Tool. In order to take on this task, you must first understand the purpose and format of each of these tools. To assist, I will provide an example of Part 2 from a previous student.

PART 1: Locate research on GANTT Charts. List the site: _____________________________________
Next, use your research to answer questions A. and B. below:
A. What is a GANTT Chart and Why is it used?
B. What are the attributes of a quality GANTT Chart?

There is free software available online to create a nice looking GANTT chart—just do a search. If you choose to use Excel for this task, you may wish to search YouTube for a tutorial on “How to use Excel to create a GANTT Chart.”

PART 2: PROJECT… Part A: Introduction – Part B: GANTT Chart -Part C: Control Chart

Select a project or activity. The project or activity needs to be complex enough to allow for several participants (3 or more) and several steps or actions (at least 6) to be accomplished before the project is completed. You may either choose a workplace project or a home project.

Part A. Write a brief paragraph describing the project.

Part B. Create a Gantt Chart for your project. Include at least 6 steps.

Part C. Create a Control Chart to test the quality of each step or action of your project. Include at least 6 steps and a minimum of 3 participants. Please note that it is fine to leave the last column, “actual results” blank is you have not actually completed this project.

To assist you with this project, below is a student project which will serve as a good example.

Student Project Sample- Part 2 A:
This is a schedule, Gantt chart, and control chart for completing an Integrated Marketing Communication Plan. This plan is part of a transnational client project involving the Australian company V/Line, McCann Marketing Consultants, RMIT Business TAFE, and Kirkwood Community College. However, this Gantt chart and control chart only include the American portion of the project because I don’t have the timeline for the Australian students.
This is a semester long project, ending with 14 Kirkwood students going to Australia in May to present this IMC Plan to the V/Line marketing executives. V/Line is a public transportation system in Victoria, Australia, using mainly trains, with some bus and coach services. They are centrally located in Melbourne, the major city in Victoria. We are creating a new campaign to increase the off peak time, mid-week travel, outbound from the city of Melbourne. Or team will write an entire marketing plan, including target audience, competition, SWOT analysis, creative idea, and implementation strategy.
Due to the fact that this is a semester long project, some of the steps are already complete. However, I have included them in this Gantt chart and control chart because without them it would seem incomplete.
