As your final project, you are to write a literature review on your topic. Attached in module 3 of Canvas, is a
description of what a literature review is but, to put it succinctly, it is a document that summarizes,
contextualizes and evaluates the most current research done on a topic. What you are basically writing is
an introductory guide for new readers on your research subject, so in order to do that, you have to know
the key discussions (e.g. topics), the important authors or experts, and put them in conversation together.
So the organization of the lit review should be as follows:
I. Introduction to the subject
II. Discussion of the main sources and authors, specifically detailing why they’re important to the subject
and how they inform it.
III. Summarize the main conclusions of studies, point out flaws in discussions, and hint at how you would
further the topic by doing your own research (how would you contribute to the discussion).
You should follow MLA, APA or Chicago citation style and should submit it as a .doc (see the Purdue OWL
for citation format). Page length should be between 5-10 pages and have a minimum of 6 sources.
