Research Question: Is Gertrude involved with Claudius’s multiple plots to kill Hamlet? For this essay you must synthesize much of the writing work from this semester into a single coherent academic essay that represents a polished finished product of approximately 10-12 pages in length, excluding works cited entries. In order to accomplish that goal, you must have a well-developed topic, one that is demonstrably linked to Renaissance Drama. This does not mean that the essay must be about drama; rather, your goal could be to find a link between a topic in Renaissance drama and an issue of contemporary relevance today. In other words, your topic may begin with a point of intersection or kairos that you discover in your reading of these plays, and then it can develop through research. We will work on developing your thesis and the connection to kairos in class, but remember that the whole project begins with your close reading of these plays. For the presentation: This presentation should be brief (5-7 minutes), and should represent a condensed, easily understood version of your longer project. Although the final presentation is an oral format, you are encouraged to use multimedia tools (for example, PowerPoint, technology permitting) to help organize and demonstrate your extended research project
