Information literacy is declining rapidly in modern society, despite the ready availability of many sources of information. In particular, a recent study showed that less than half of 18-35 year olds check a reliable news outlet daily, and a third of them don’t check one at all on a regular basis (at least once a week). Also, college enrollments are down at both county and state colleges as well as major universities, meaning fewer degrees are being granted and the “education gap” in the U.S. is widening.
Try to support your discussion with examples and evidence when possible, even if your supporting points are theoretical or hypothetical.
